Approximately 175 pastors and their families gathered at Camp Berkshire in New York from June 30 to July 2 for the Mi Familia, Mi Mejor Regalo conference. The event, organized by the Atlantic Union Conference Hispanic and Portuguese ministries, emphasized the significance of family as the greatest gift from God.
“I hope the attendees left with a renewed focus on family life and a commitment to prioritizing their families,” said Henry Beras, Hispanic and Portuguese ministries vice president. The event was filled with opportunities for Christian fellowship, relaxation, and spiritual renewal, as pastors and their families took time to connect with their peers in a supportive environment.
Throughout the weekend, attendees enjoyed presentations from Cesar and Carolann De Leon, North American Division (NAD) Family Ministries directors. Additional speakers included Geraldo Ouderi, NAD ministerial associate director; Elvis Diaz, Pacific Press Publishing Association multilingual sales director; and Axel Orellana, Esperanza TV director and NAD multilingual media ministry assistant director. Abraham J. Jules, Atlantic Union Conference president, presented an inspiring devotional. Conference presenters and pastors laid hands on Jules during a special prayer for his ministry as he serves as president (see photo in gallery).
The retreat also featured separate meetings designed to support pastors’ wives, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities they face in ministry. Angela Beras, Atlantic Union Conference Prayer and Women’s ministries director, partnered in organizing these sessions. Many attendees commented on how they were blessed by the retreat. “Events such as these play an important role in strengthening families involved in Hispanic and Portuguese ministries, which will have a long-term positive impact on the churches,” Beras said.
The conference was a time for spiritual growth and an opportunity for pastors to enjoy much-needed rest. Beras added, “Plans are already underway to make this a yearly event, with the goal of continuing to nurture and support the families who play such a vital role in the ministry.”
