The Greater New York Conference (GNYC) brought hope in Christ to families with Lo Hará Otra Vez: Semana de Evangelismo Familia, May 9-14. Yonkers Spanish church hosted the event that streamed live on Facebook and Atlantic Union Adventist Media (AUAM), and over the radio airwaves on Radio Amanecer Internacional and Corintios Radio. Henry Beras, GNYC president, presented powerful messages each evening, and more than 100 people committed their lives to Jesus Christ through baptism at the conclusion of the meeting. In addition, churches in the Dominican Republic reported some 266 baptisms resulting from the evangelistic outreach.
Samuel Peguero, GNYC Family Ministries director, and Henesis Vega, a member of the Yonkers Spanish church, served as nightly hosts. Efrain Duany, Jr., associate director for Family Ministries for the Florida Conference, also presented a brief family emphasis every evening featuring topics of high relevance for today’s families. Before the start of the series, pastors and church members generated enthusiasm on social media by posting short videos and photos to promote the event. The energy quickly spread and resulted in hundreds tuning in from throughout the Atlantic Union and beyond, including conferences from the Dominican Union Conference, the Puerto Rican Union Conference, and the South Colombian Union Conference. Members from the South Central Conference in the southern United States, and even families living in Spain and other countries watched or listened to the broadcast. All programs were featured in Spanish and available in English via Zoom.
Every night was a night of miracles and included beautiful testimonies given in reports coming from different parts of the world. One of the most impressive stories was that of Ángel García, a church member and interstate truck driver, who invited 15 of his fellow truck drivers to watch the transmission. No matter where they were to be that day, they tuned in to each program. One night, García sent the link late to the other drivers. They eagerly asked, “Where is today’s link?” On Friday, Beras received news that one of those truck drivers decided to give his life to Christ and be baptized the next day for the honor and glory of God. Hundreds were reached and are still being touched as they are watching the program on social media channels. The Holy Spirit blessed with an enormous Pentecost in the Greater New York Conference and around the world.
