Faith in Action: Adventist Church Walks the Talk

  • September 2025
  • Bermuda Conference
  • Bermuda Conference, Health

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has long upheld a message of wholistic health rooted in Scripture and the inspired writings of Ellen G. White. Central to this philosophy is the belief that the body is a temple of God, and caring for it through physical activity, nutrition, rest, and trust in divine power is not just a health practice—it’s a spiritual mandate. In a modern world filled with sedentary routines and digital distractions, one local Adventist congregation is making a conscious effort to return to nature, community, and movement.

As part of its commitment to the church’s health principles, the Warwick church conducts a monthly Trail Walk initiative consisting of members, friends, and the wider community who explore Bermuda’s diverse trails. From the Railway Trail to Spittal Pond and Hog Bay Park, participants are not just stretching their legs—they’re walking in alignment with a time-tested health message.

The initiative reflects the values encapsulated in the NEWSTART lifestyle acronym: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust in God. The members not only promote health from the pulpit; they are living it. Walking together benefits the members’ bodies, strengthens their relationships, and uplifts their spirits. The monthly walks are open to all ages and fitness levels, with routes chosen to highlight both the scenic beauty and natural tranquility of Bermuda’s landscape. Along the way, walkers are free to pause for prayer, reflection, and fellowship, deepening the spiritual aspect of the journey.

As the trail winds beneath Bermuda’s sunlit skies and alongside its azure waters, these walks serve as a tangible expression of faith in action—a congregation choosing to live out its beliefs, step by step. For more information or to join the next walk, call (441) 236-2813 or email info@sdachurchwarwick.org
