From Seeds to Salvation: A Summer of Ministry at Oakview Preparatory School

  • December 2025

  • Greater New York Conference

This summer, the Women’s and Children’s Ministries departments of the Greater New York Conference joined forces to bring spiritual enrichment and joy to the Yonkers community through a vibrant Vacation Bible School (VBS) held July 21–25, 2025, at Oakview Preparatory School.

Each day, children ages 2–12 gathered for a fun-filled program featuring Bible stories, crafts, games, music, and fellowship. The program concluded each morning with a light lunch and grateful hearts. The laughter, learning, and excitement created a memorable experience for all and planted spiritual seeds that would soon blossom into something greater.

Building on the success of VBS, the Women’s Ministries Department, under the leadership of Director Lisa D. González, hosted a dynamic evangelistic series Sept. 20–27. Fred Nichols, senior pastor, and Dexter Smith, associate pastor, of the North Bronx church, delivered powerful, Spirit-filled messages that inspired hearts and deepened faith. Each evening, students and staff provided uplifting music, while the Junior and Senior choirs offered special selections during both Sabbath services, filling the sanctuary with praise. Principal Judith White and her staff expressed heartfelt appreciation for the evangelistic efforts that blessed both events at the school.

This season of ministry reached its high point when George Henry made the life-changing decision to surrender his life fully to God through baptism. His membership will be transferred to the Victory church in Bronx, New York. To God be the glory—great things He has done!
