Utica International: On Fire for Pentecost 2025

Leaders and members of the Utica International Church joined thousands across the North American Division in Pentecost 2025. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the church pursued the goal to “let the whole world know” through multiple activities throughout the year. These initiatives have blessed members and neighboring communities.

In the first quarter, the church hosted events to connect with the community. A tea-tasting workshop highlighted the health benefits of herbal teas, and the church’s adult education program—now in its fifth year—continued to meet needs and build relationships. In April, the church held a seven-week series, “Walking With Jesus,” where New York Conference President Miguel Crespo shared lessons from Jesus’ parables. Many non-Adventist friends attended, some bringing their pastors.

May was especially busy. Cmdr. Adrienne Townsend-Benton, a Navy chaplain and former Utica International member, was the guest speaker during a Sabbath honoring local fire and police departments. The congregation also recognized Chaplain Joseph Solerno for 25 years of service. Afterward, first responders and members shared a meal. Later in the month, church member and nutritionist Cleanne Johnson presented vegan cooking classes for members and guests.

During the summer, the church hosted concerts featuring world-renowned vocalists, duet duo Reggie and Ladye Love Smith, and the Jehovah Shalom a cappella group. Dozens from the community attended. On Oct. 5, the church will host its second annual Gospel Hymn Sing. More than 100 non-Adventist visitors, including pastors and leaders from other denominations, attended last year.

All events will culminate in one of the church’s largest evangelistic efforts. On Oct. 24-25, Dwight Nelson, retired pastor of Pioneer Memorial Church, will present “American Apocalypse: The Last Prophecy,” a study of Revelation 13. Utica International Church continues to press forward with its evangelistic mission for Pentecost 2025.
