Members Feed Homeless Population in Syracuse

On May 6, Aaron Chancy, Mount Carmel church pastor, led seven members to collaborate with an organization known as “Rise Above the Streets.” They made and distributed sandwiches to the homeless population in Syracuse, New York.

Al-Amin Muhammad, who was once homeless, is the leader and organizer of the organization. In addition to being formerly homeless, Muhammad is also a former gang member from Chicago, Illinois. Chancy and Muhammad came into contact via a mutual friend when they both participated in an interview. After talking, Chancy informed Muhammad that he would like to get members from his church involved with this initiative.

The impact was tremendous, and many from Mount Carmel said they would return to assist as Mount Carmel church seeks to continue collaborating with various organizations in Syracuse for Sandwich Saturdays.
