Music Clinic 2023 Draws a Large Crowd

This year, March 30-April 1, at Pine Tree Academy in Freeport, Maine, over 230 students participated in a combination of band, youth choir, larger choir, strings, and piano as they graced the halls for Northern New England Conference’s 2023 Music Clinic. The theme of “Forever His” from John 10:27, 28 permeated the worship talks and the spirit of kindness and cooperation as everyone pitched in to make this event run smoothly.

On Thursday and Friday, each musical section came together to create music as a whole group after practicing the pieces they had received in the mail. On Saturday night, the final concert, conducted by Brendan Krueger, included the “grand finale” with all the musicians participating. Sonia Edwards, NNEC superintendent of schools, and all of her predecessors, envisioned the “grand finale” as a chance to give students the opportunity to participate with many musicians. The result was a wonderful “surround sound” experience.

The group of professional-quality clinicians included Jenelle Westerbeck Anderson, Large Choir; J. Bruce Ashton, Piano; Brendan Krueger, Band; Laurie Redmer Cadwallader, Strings; and Doris Krueger, Youth Choir.

Each day, many of the students and adult volunteers made new friends and rekindled old relationships. Since the COVID-break, each year brings more attendees, and this year there were over 550 people. This is an annual event, so be on the lookout for the next Music Clinic scheduled for the end of March 2024.
