South Lancaster Academy (SLA) is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of Ian Neidigh, a distinguished alumnus who continues to excel in his academic journey, thanks to a solid foundation of Adventist education and hard work.

After graduating from SLA, Ian (pictured with family) attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he majored in Chemistry (ACS-certified) and Mathematical Studies. He was also a member of the university’s prestigious Honors Program. Ian’s academic excellence and research experience have earned him admission into Yale University, where he is pursuing a fully-funded Ph.D. program in Biophysical Chemistry, including a living stipend.

“I’m elated to pursue this new opportunity,” Ian shared. “I hope to use the knowledge and skills I gain from Yale to contribute to groundbreaking research in the biotech industry. SLA laid the foundation for my success at Andrews, which then translated into my acceptance at Yale.”

Ian credits much of his early academic development to SLA, specifically expressing gratitude to Kevin Bisson, SLA’s high school mathematics and physics teacher, and Tishawna Brahmia, SLA’s high school science teacher.
“Everything he has achieved academically stems from hard work, determination, intelligence, and fortitude,” Bisson remarked. “Ian is a well-rounded student.”

“Ian was a joy to have in class,” shared Brahmia. “I’m not surprised by his achievement; I’m just incredibly proud and happy for him.”
Both SLA and Andrews University are Seventh-day Adventist educational institutions committed to academic excellence and providing an atmosphere supporting students’ spiritual growth.
