The Atlantic Union Conference Office of Education Administrators Council (AUCOEAC) convenes twice a year, bringing together a diverse group of education leaders, including AUCOE staff, conference superintendents and associate superintendents, and principals and vice principals from academies across the Atlantic Union. Serving as an advisory body on educational planning and policies (as outlined in Atlantic Union Education Code 1045:03), AUCOEAC provides guidance to both the Atlantic Union Conference Office of Education and the Atlantic Union Conference Board of Education.
Each spring, the AUCOEAC meeting is hosted by one of the union’s six conferences on a rotating basis. This year’s meeting, held April 25–May 2, was hosted by the Bermuda Conference. In a unique and memorable setting, the group met aboard the Norwegian Jewel cruise ship and spent meaningful time at the Bermuda Institute, a K-12 school operated by the Bermuda Conference.
As is tradition, the spring meeting included a service project that allowed council members to give back to the host community. This year, AUCOEAC members engaged in gardening, cleanup, and painting at the Bermuda Institute—enhancing the school’s campus while demonstrating the values of service and stewardship. The council was also privileged to join the student body in a spiritually uplifting chapel experience that highlighted the shared mission of faith-based education.
During the week, the council addressed a variety of topics critical to educational leadership. Discussions included technology updates, changes in state regulations, and training sessions focused on standards-based learning. These sessions fostered a spirit of collaboration and continuous improvement among participants.
Survey responses from attendees reflect the impact of the meeting:
- “The AUCOEAC meetings were educational and insightful.”
- “The discussions provided a deeper understanding of key academic policies and best practices, and I appreciated the collaborative approach to addressing challenges and exploring opportunities for continuous improvement.”
- “The sessions were well-organized and fostered meaningful dialogue, making the experience both enriching and inspiring.”
The AUCOEAC spring meeting continues to be a vital platform for strategic visioning, professional growth, and spiritual connection—underscoring the Atlantic Union Conference’s commitment to excellence in Adventist education.
