The Greater New York Conference (GNYC) Haitian Ministries held its annual Leadership and Officers Training on January 14 at the Gethsemane French church in Brooklyn, New York. It was amazing to see members of all age groups and ministry areas come prepared to offer service to the Lord, and to see GNYC directors and administrators conducting training and coaching exercises for the various officers and leaders.
In his remarks, Alanzo Smith, GNYC president, acknowledged the great responsibility on the shoulders of those who have been chosen to serve and to lead this next chapter of the church. He applauded those in attendance for their continued support and sacrifice in the work of Christ. He further encouraged them, despite the challenges they face, to “remain faithful to the duty of spreading this gospel as we await the soon and glorious appearing of our Savior.”
If there was any question about the purpose of this training, the answer was displayed in the grand celebration of the baptism of two candidates who gave their hearts to Jesus. Andy Lagredelle, GNYC Haitian Ministries coordinator, in his reflection on this experience said, “We believe when we are inspired, motivated, trained, and equipped, we can better serve. Administrators, departmental leaders, and all our local pastors made themselves available as we worshiped, prayed, and to cap it off with the visual purpose of what this was all about, baptized. We want to depopulate the kingdom of the enemy and populate the kingdom of God. It was good to see, feel, and sense the rhythmic unity in mission of the Haitian community.”
