More than 50 young adults from various conferences attended a weekend young adult retreat
at Camp Winnekeag in Ashburnham, Massachusetts, August 23-25. Under the theme “You Belong Here,” the attendees gathered to experience a deeper relationship with Christ.
The retreat provided an atmosphere for young adults to reconnect with Jesus while spending time away from city life. It was a place where young adults, ages 18-35, not only formed or strengthened their relationship with Christ, but they spent time in worship, gathered with old friends, and made new friends. It was also a way for them to close out the summer.
Sergio Quevedo, pastor of the One Connection church in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and the Southern New England Conference (SNEC) church planting coordinator, was the guest speaker for the weekend.
One of the activities they participated in included “One Hour with Jesus.” During the activity, each young adult had to choose a spot on the camp site, preferably alone, and for one hour they focused on several questions/thoughts presented to them. They used their Bibles as the resource.
The SNEC Youth Ministries Department is continuing a tradition of holding a retreat specifically for young adults that was started by Mark Tamaleaa when he was the Northern New England Conference Youth Ministries director. The retreat was organized by the SNEC Young Adult Advisory.
