There’s a new place to learn about ministry and leadership skills for New York Conference members—the Christian Learning Academy. Many people who know they have been called by God to serve His church and have been visiting members and hospitals and leading local church offices need to be equipped with the necessary tools for connecting with others.
Recognizing this need, the New York Conference (NYC) administration, led by Miguel Crespo, president, created a new initiative to help leaders, keep them relevant, and empower them to make a spiritual impact in the communities where they are involved by exalting Christ. This new initiative is the Christian Leadership Academy.
On March 4, 2023, the Christian Leadership Academy (CLA) was launched in an all-day event that took place at the conference office in Syracuse, New York. Dustin Hall, senior pastor of the Union Springs District and co-coordinator of the Christian Learning Academy, said, “CLA gives lay members and pastors unique access to training and education that can prepare them to be better leaders in their churches. We are excited about using this multi-platform method for instruction in person, online, and via podcast. We know this material will have an immediate impact in our churches and communities.”
Aneury Vargas, senior pastor of the North Country District, also serves as part of the team that is in charge of development and scheduling for the CLA. In addition to the new classes, CLA intends to motivate students to join the New York Conference Lay Pastors Ministry.
