Thanks to the initiative of Claudio Gomez, New York Conference executive secretary, and Hilde Barrera, Union Springs Academy’s (USA) principal, several students spent a week on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic doing missionary work. Nine students and four New York Conference and USA staff members painted homes, worked in the church’s school, and witnessed to others in the town of La Isabela in the province of Puerto Plata.
The high school students were in the Dominican Republic February 5-13, under the leadership of Gomez and his wife, Michelle, as well as Barrera and his wife, Deborah. Thanks to this effort, the students helped the local school and local church members, by preaching to them, painting their buildings, and learning about their culture.
